We recently got an E-books database so that the patrons could check out material at home and have it on their tablets. Our staff responded well we are still learning how to upload and use it on so many different kinds of tablets. We have to take more reference questions but other than that everything has gone as usual. Our database is not compatable with every kind of tablet and so the patrons with the ones that it is not compatable with are not very happy and tend to visit the library a little less often because we can not offer everything that they want. I think that it did for the patrons that it did help and worked for by offering them more books and on their time. I would only want to change that it is compatable with certain kinds of tablets.

Search Skills Blog Jaysheen Alvey
Title: Public Libraries and the Future of Democracy. Author: Carolyn J. Lukensmeyer Date Published: Winter 2012 I found this article in EBSCOhost. I was looking for Libraries future with the government. My library does try to be the center of the community. We work hard to get the community engaged in what we do. The community doesn't have the drive to though. I think that maybe if we did step up and try to be the leaders and people actually started looking towards us for help people would be more informed in the right way not the twisted way. So yes it is a good direction for libraries. Jaysheen Alvey

Core Competencies
What surprised me most was that my lowest scores were in Database and Web Development. I did expect the low score in Web Development but in Database?? I have used Databases before but I have no idea how to make one. Which is where my score dropped.

Hello my name is Jaysheen I have had this blog since i was a sophomore in high school so in the four years since then i have grown up a lot so if you look back on some of my other posts you will see some poems that i wrote and are not all bright and cheery. But everything that i have gone through has made me what i am today. Today i am a woman that is getting married 10-4-2014 to the love of my life and best friend James "Ben" Weiland. I work at Oakland City-Columbia Township Public Library (a mouth full we know) and currently live in Oakland City Indiana with our wonderful cat Shortie.
